"Kite Aerial Photography"

Digital Imagers Meeting

Sunday April 5, 2009 at 1:15, Pitt Scaife Hall, Room 1102

Description:

Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) is a wonderful way to take photographs from above by hanging a camera in a rotating rig with an automatic timer on a kite string. I will talk about how to make a KAP rig, appropriate cameras and kites , and safe flying techniques. I will show you my kites and rigs, and hope to convince some of you to try out KAP for yourselves.

Biography:

An enthusiastic amateur photographer, I carry my digital camera with me at all times, in a pouch on my belt. I love being able to capture that elusive and transitory moment - the sudden appearance of a rainbow or a dramatic storm or the landing of a wild bird - before that moment vanishes forever. I also enjoy Kite Aerial Photography, where one dangles a camera hung from the string of a kite high in the air. Some of my favorite photographs can be found on my Flickr page at
