Biography:

Leroy Pettis completed formal study at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, but has found photography a lifetime learning experience. His interest evolved from pure landscapes to a more interpretive vision, to painting with the camera, capturing the beaury in our surroundings and memories of people and places.

"I am fascinated by the old neighborhoods and wonderful architectural details that crop up in the most unexpected places. We travel through familiar streets day after day, looking but not seeing. My desire is to present these images to caues the viewer to take a second look at the familiar, while highlighting the unique architecture and neighborhoods we live in ... I use computer software tools to mold the pictures into what resembles illustrations, removing telephone poles etc. Sometimes the crooked phone poles, parking meters and electric lines ar just so Pittsburgh that they cannot be removed."

Member: Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators, National Assn. of Photoshop Professionals.
