Nina Sowiski will speak on
"Favorites, Transitions, and Reflections"
Digital Imagers Meeting
Sunday Jan. 2, 2011 at 1:15, Pitt Scaife Hall, Room 1102
Description:
I will present some of my favorites, both old and new, with some that do not necessarily fit into the categories of the title. Transitions will look at my focus on the aging process, and reflections will be physical rather than mental.
Bio:
My father was a painter and wood carver, my sistesr is a water colorist, brother is a paper and print maker and a nephew is a metal sculptor. I took my first photograph with a Brownie camera in the 1950's. I was influenced in the 60's by Eliot Porter and later by David Muench, and much of my work has involved photographing nature. As a Master Gardener I've been intrigued by the beauty and variety of fruits and flowers. Water often features in my work as reflector, distorter and enhancer. Recently I've been focusing on aging and dead objects and plants, finding their beauty and wishing to find positive aspects of the aging process.
